Service Announcement

Low-Dose Chest CT Screening for Lung Cancer

Troy Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce its participation with the American College of Radiology (ACR) in providing another tool in the early detection of Cancer. Beginning February 1, 2017, the Radiology Department at Troy Regional Medical Center will initiate a Lung Cancer Screening Program.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends annual screening for lung cancer with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) in high-risk patients. According to the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), screening high-risk patients with low-dose CT scans decreases the risk of death from lung cancer by 20% compared to chest x-ray alone.

Beginning February 1, 2017, Troy Regional Medical Center Radiology Department will offer this service to patients fitting the following criteria established by the ACR for the Lung Screening Program:

Ages 55-77

>30 pack-year smoking history (For example: 1 pack per day for 30 years)

Current smoker or former smoker quitting within the past 15 years

Required CT Lung Screening order forms will be provided to your office for your convenience.

We are excited to offer this new service to our community. Join us in our commitment to fight cancer!
