Troy Regional is one of 313 hospitals in the country and one of a dozen in Alabama given a 5-star rating for quietness in a recent evaluation. The rating was the result of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) patient survey (HCAHPS), a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experience during a recent inpatient hospital stay. Patients completed the surveys between July 2023 and June 2024, and the data was updated on April 30, 2025. Becker’s Hospital Review compiled the list.

“At Troy Regional, we understand that healing doesn’t happen in chaos,” said Troy Regional CEO Rick Smith. “A quiet, calm environment is essential to our patients’ recovery and well-being. Every effort we make to reduce noise in our hospital—whether during the day or at night—is a reflection of our commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.”

This recognition follows the hospital’s designation as a Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital for 2025 by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, and the only one in the state to make the list. Leveraging publicly available data, the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX® is used nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

Additionally, in 2025, Troy Regional received the Women’s Choice Award® for Best Hospital for Emergency Care, based on patient experience ratings, and a CMS 5-star rating for cleanliness.
