Troy Regional has been recognized as a hospital most likely to be recommended by patients according to data from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Becker’s Hospital Review recently compiled and released a list of hospitals in every state that received five stars in this category, including Troy Regional.
The rating comes from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The recommended hospital star rating is based on patients’ responses to the question, “Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?” Hospitals must have at least 100 completed HCAHPS surveys in a four-quarter period to be eligible for a star rating.
“Being added to this list is a great honor for Troy Regional,” said Rick Smith, Troy Regional CEO. “This shows patients trust us with their care. We strive to be the hospital of choice for our community, providing exceptional healthcare close to home.”
The star rating is based on survey data collected from hospital patients in 2024.
Troy Regional was just one of nine hospitals in the state of Alabama named to the list and the only hospital from the southeastern part of the state.
Other recognitions Troy Regional has received in 2025 include selection as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital (the only one in Alabama) by the Chartis organization, CMS 5-star ratings for cleanliness, quietness and nurse communication, and Women’s Choice® awards in the categories of “Best Hospitals for Emergency Care” and “Small Hospitals for Comprehensive Care.” All these awards were based on publicly available data.
